This week's highlights

This week has been great!

We've had fun reading our new books, playing with some new
activities, and on our outdoor adventures.

The children took turns spotting bumble bees on some of the plants by
the pond on our nature walks.

One of the other ponds behind our street is for storm water run-off,
and the city had just finished re-digging it this week.
We were so glad to be able to see many construction trucks this week
- there was a great view from Elizabeth's back yard when we were
there on a play date earlier in the week.
We went back there through the pathway on Thursday, and the trucks
were all gone. Sine the pond was completely empty with just fresh
new dry dirt in it, we thought it might be fun to venture down to the
bottom and see what it would be like if we were on the 'bottom' of
the pond. No danger, since all the dirt had been safely packed down
by the heavy trucks and there was no water in the pond. Imagine a
miniature valley, if you will. The kids got a kick out of it, and
liked to say 'We went in a pond'. Too bad my memory card wasn't in
my camera, that would have made for a funny photo.

The kids also spotted a snake on the sidewalk that had shed its skin,
but it turned out to be a shoelace. :)

I did, however, take a few extra photos at the park on Wednesday, and
I'll email them to you separately.

Have a great weekend!
